Versatile and delicious, these honey sriracha meatballs can be served as a main dish or appetizer and will be the talk of your party. The sweet and spicy contrast makes these particular meatballs stand out from the crowd because they are not the typical recipe. Versatile because the flavors pair well with so many styles of food, and the meatballs can be served so many different ways, this recipe will become a family favorite and go-to recipe for entertaining.

One of the best things about this recipe besides the taste is that all of the ingredients can be purchased ready to go. Frozen meatballs, condiments, and green onion come together so easily, especially if you buy the onion already diced because you are scrambling last minute. Even if you have to dice the onions that is literally all of the prep needed. That’s it! We have so many great recipes using store bought ingredients and easy cooking methods in our Freezer Meals 101 club. My goal is to make my family’s busy life as easy as possible, and then pass the tips along to you.

Will any meatballs work?
I recommend getting meatballs that are plain or labeled “homemade” or another neutral flavor. If you prefer to use homemade meatballs, our Italian meatball recipe would work well.
What is Sriracha?
Sriracha hot sauce is a spicy, interesting sauce made from hot chili peppers, vinegar, pickled garlic, sugar, and salt. A sauce with Thai origins, variations of sriracha are served with Thai food, American Vietnamese food (though not in Veitnam), and as a spicy condiment for recipes such as this. A truly Thai version will be tangier than those made by American counterparts.
Honey Sriracha Meatballs Recipe Ideas

Our meatballs often end up on a sandwich — using a sub bun — with more sauce, provolone cheese, and all the sandwich fixings we love. These flavors work well with sauteed onions and mushrooms as one example that makes a great sandwich. You could also pair them with marinara sauce and cheese for a pizza sub. The sandwich possibilities are endless and limited only by imagination.
Besides making subs, these meatballs can also be used, cut in half, as a pizza topping. Or use them on a salad, in a soup, or on a street taco.
Using hot honey or adding red pepper flakes bumps the heat up even more.
In a pinch, substitute the honey with agave syrup or clear corn syrup.
If you want to make three or four freezer bags of the meatballs on the weekend, and put one recipe straight into the crockpot for dinner you can. Start rice in the rice cooker and after a busy day of freezer meal prep, your dinner will be waiting for you. None of our freezer meals are required to be frozen, you can use them either way.
How do I store Honey Sriracha Meatballs
Keep leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator with any extra sauce. Reheat the meatballs in a skillet or in the microwave. Make individual containers over rice to reheat in a microwave at work or school. You can keep these in the refrigerator for up to three or four days. They should not be re-frozen because they were already cooked and frozen once.
What to Serve with Honey Sriracha Meatballs

This dish can be served as a protein based appetizer with toothpicks for eating. You can also serve the honey sriracha meatballs over rice, pasta, quinoa, or on their own as a main dish. Add a fun salad, crusty bread, or any side dish you love to round out the meal. Serve the meatballs with dipping sauces for fun! You could have ranch, honey mustard, thousand island or ChickFilA Sauce, and queso available. For those sensitive to the heat, ranch is a must.
