Garlic Sausage and Peppers Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. garlic sausage ring sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 14 oz. diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • red pepper flakes to taste

Assembly instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients into a large freezer bag.
  2. Remove excess air, seal, and freeze.

Cooking instructions:

  1. Thaw.
  2. Add the contents of the bag into the slow cooker.
  3. Cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours.

Substitution Ideas for this Recipe

Sometimes garlic sausage is not gluten-free. If you want to make a gluten-free meal, be sure to choose gluten-free sausage.

You can also substitute any sausage, like beef, turkey, or chicken, with this recipe. If you are looking for a vegetarian option, use a plant-based sausage.

For the red-pepper flakes, you can add as much or as little as you want, depending on how much heat you want in the dish.

What to Serve with This Recipe

This meal can be served with white rice, pasta, quinoa, polenta, or mashed potatoes. You can also add garlic bread or a side salad to make it a complete meal.

For a different twist, eat the sausage and peppers on a hoagie roll, bun, or in a wrap. This is a great way to use up any leftovers the next day for lunch.
