How Do You Reheat Homemade Frozen Waffles?

Once you have your waffles frozen, you’re probably wondering how to warm them up when your family is ready to eat them. Luckily, it’s just as easy to reheat your homemade waffles as it is to heat up the store-bought ones.

There are three basic ways to reheat your frozen waffles. You can cook them in the:

  • Oven. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place the waffles in a single layer on a baking sheet and cook them for around five minutes, flipping the waffles halfway through the cook time. The oven is the best method when heating many waffles at once.
  • Toaster. Set the toaster to the medium/high setting and place the waffles in the toaster. After the first toasting, push the lever down again to brown and crisp them before serving. The toaster is my preferred method for heating one or two waffles at a time.
  • Toaster oven. Set the oven to the light or low setting and place the waffles inside. Cook for two to three minutes, until the waffles are golden brown.

Freezer Waffles Tips & Tricks

Once you try making your own homemade frozen waffles, you’ll never go back to store-bought again! That’s because it’s so easy to make and reheat your own waffles at home. And with these baking tips, you’ll be able to whip up your own tasty waffles over and over again with ease.

  • Use wax paper to keep waffles from sticking together. While flash freezing your waffles is a simple way to keep them from sticking, you may still run into the pieces sticking together while they’re in the freezer. To help prevent this from happening, try placing a small piece of wax paper between each waffle before placing them in the freezer bags.
  • Remove as much air as possible from the bag. To prevent freezer burn on your waffles, make sure to remove as much air as possible from the bag. Start by sealing the bag, leaving around one inch open at the end of the zipper. Lightly press on the bag, working from the bottom up, to remove the air surrounding the waffles. Then, quickly seal the remainder of the zipper. Be sure to teach your family to take the air out again each time they take out a waffle.
  • Don’t forget to label your bag. To be sure that your family eats the waffles before they go bad, always label the freezer bag. Write down the name and flavor of the waffles inside the bag, when they were frozen, and the expected expiration date. Most waffles are good in the freezer for up to three months.
  • Double the recipe for even more breakfasts. You can easily double this buttermilk waffle recipe to ensure you have enough waffles to last a while. Just keep in mind that waffles stay good for up to three months in the freezer, so don’t make too many!
