What teenager isn’t going to love this fantastic snack in a bag? Make up a batch of these pull-apart pizza bombs for the freezer, and you will always have a midnight snack on hand when that hungry teen can’t sleep. These fantastic treats are also perfect for your child’s lunchbox. Add dipping sauce, and lunch is golden!

Here’s the thing about feeding teens. They can be picky. But pizza is almost always a winner! While I love serving pizza-flavored foods in all kinds of forms, I just don’t love the cost of buying said snacks.
And that’s one great reason to use our Freezer Meals 101 Club to prepare all the food you need to keep your teenager fed ahead of time. The cost of freezer meals is always cheaper than takeout, convenience or processed foods. Plus, you get to pick your ingredients, leave out preservatives or allergens, make sure your produce gets rinsed, etc.
Your teens are also going to love these Pizza Sliders and our fabulous Instant Pot Pizza Casserole too!

- Cool and place into a large resealable freezer bag to freeze.

How to Reheat Homemade Pizza Bombs
- Thaw and reheat to serve.

I’m not a fan of basil, can I leave it out?
Yes. You can choose to use dried oregano instead (about a teaspoon) or use fresh, chopped spinach or arugula leaves, or leave it out entirely without a substitute.
How do I know when the pizza bombs are done?
They should be baked until the cooked dough bounces back to the touch and the color is golden brown. If in doubt, you can pull apart one to see if it is thoroughly cooked. Overcooking them will make them kinda chewy when they are reheated.
Pizza Bombs Recipe Ideas
These are great for sending in school lunches! You can include a small container of pizza sauce for dipping.
You can actually make any flavor of pizza you like! The key is to keep it around 1/2 cup to 1 cup of total additions and make sure to chop everything up small. This ensures the wow factor in every bite. Try these mix-ins in place of the pepperoni:
- Ham and Pineapple
- Cooked Sausage
- Cooked Bacon and Onions
- Chicken and Red Pepper (use BBQ Sauce or Alfredo for dip!)
- Supreme Combination (sausage, pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, green peppers)
- Pepperoni and Mushrooms
You can also try different cheeses. For instance, the chicken pizza bombs go great with Colby Jack. Parmesan is going to be a great addition, no matter what your toppings of choice are. A mix of cheeses – taco mix, Italian mix, a blend of mozzarella and cheddar, ricotta, feta, and even cream cheese can all be great choice to add in. Small bits of fresh mozzarella would also be fabulous mixed in.
Don’t forget to mix up the sauce too! Besides regular pizza sauce, you can get spicy pizza sauce, bbq sauce, alfredo sauce, ranch, or nacho cheese sauce. Some of these can even be purchased in individual serving cups for easy packed lunches!
Other spices or seasonings you can add: minced garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, onion powder, or dried minced onion.

How do I store Pizza Bombs
I recommend leaving the bag in the freezer and reheating only as much as you need. Reheat the pizza bombs in the oven or microwave. They only need thirty seconds to one minute in the microwave to be ready. Thawing helps, but isn’t required.
What to Serve with Pizza Bombs
Add the dipping sauce of your choice, and maybe a side salad or some fresh fruit and you are good to go!
