Grape Jelly Roast

Grape Jelly might not be the first ingredient that comes to mind when cooking a roast, but we think it will quickly become one of your favourite secret ingredients. The sweetness in the jelly perfectly balances the tangy chili sauce, creating a rich, flavourful glaze that thickens juices, while tenderizing the roast. The result is a fork-tender meat coated in delicious sauce.

What kind of beef roast should I use for Grape Jelly Roast?

A round roast, chuck roast, or brisket are all very good cuts of meat for this recipe. If the roast has a layer of fat on one side, place that side up in the crock pot to keep it from drying out while cooking.

What should I serve with Grape Jelly Roast?

You can serve this with rice, or our make-ahead Garlic Mashed Potato recipe, or hot, buttered egg noodles.

For a vegetable side, serve with roasted broccoli or garlicky steamed green beans.

How to Store Grape Jelly Roast:

Allow the meat to cool completely (but no more than 2 hours) before placing in an air-tight container. You can store the meat in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or place cooled meat in a freezer bag, remove air, and freeze for up to 3 months.

Recipe Notes

A 2 lb. roast is on the smaller side but if you end up using a larger roast and cooking it in the instant pot, we recommend slicing your roast into 3-4 equal sized chunks before adding it to your bag. It will cook more evenly and shred more easily.
